Makeba Scott-Hunter
Senior Association Manager
Makeba is a senior association manager serving as director of marketing and Membership for GridWise Alliance and Director of Communications for the Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA). She leads strategic communications, oversees digital and print content, and strengthens engagement among members and stakeholders.
With more than 15 years of communications experience, Makeba has worked extensively with nonprofit organizations and associations. Her background includes managing editorial content for a scientific journal, leading standards and guidelines initiatives for a nonprofit, and reporting for a North Jersey daily newspaper. Her work has appeared in outlets such as the Chicago Tribune, the Baltimore Sun, Fox News, and People Magazine. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Virginia and a Master’s in Journalism from the University of Maryland–College Park.
Makeba is a proud dance and band mom to her twin teenage daughters and enjoys fostering their creative interests, drawing on her own performing arts background.
